He was the son of Charles William Cowley (1864-1946) and Florence Wilson (Cowley) (1865-1922).

He was married to Jennie Priscilla Davis (1891-1975)on 28 June 1911 in Salt Lake City, Utah and they are parents of 7 children.

Ray Carlton Cowley, 99, of Venice, died May 9, 1990 in a Richfield care center.

Born March 27, 1891 in Glenwood, Utah to Charles William and Florence Wilson Cowley. Married Jennie Priscilla Davis, June 28, 1911 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died June 4, 1975. He was an active member of the LDS Church; High Priest in the Richfield Utah Stake. Served in the Venice Ward Bishopric, in the Sunday School superintendency and in various other church callings.

Survived by two sons, four daughters, Mrs. Sterling (Maurine) Breinholt, Mrs. Scott (Cleo) Utley and Gary Allen Cowley, all Venice; Mrs. Vivian Stevenson, Menlo Park, California; Dr. Ray Garn Cowley, LaVerkin, Utah; Mrs. Stanley (Lorna) Walker, Lindon, Utah, presently serving an LDS Mission in New Zealand; 21 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, three brothers, Mrs. Karl (Grace) Phillips, V. L. Cowley, both Venice; Morris Cowley, Richfield; Allen Cowley, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania;

Preceded in death by his wife, one son, William Verne; six sisters and a brother, Leora, Mary Emily ''Mae'', Erma Zo, Florence, Lael Maud, Odetta and Charles.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14, 2 p.m., in the Venice LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Burial: Venice Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary.
