Marvin Milton Alexander, Sr. born August 23, 1925 in Dallas, Texas. The youngest of three children born to Milton and Rose Alexander. He attended J. H. Bush Elementary in Carrolton, Texas and graduated form Victory Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas. Marvin then joined the Navy, he received an honorable discharge in 1946. In 1942 he married his childhood sweetheart, Rebecca Louise Patton, to this union of 57 years, nine children were born. Where his beloved wife Rebecca, and three children Cortez & Jerry Alexander and Ruth Britton have preceded him in death. In 1954, Marvin and Rebecca moved to California, where they attended All Nations C.O.G.I.C. in San Pedro, California.
Marvin played semi pro Baseball for the Negro Baseball League, in Wilmington, Ca., he was nicked named "Duke" for his outstanding performance as a first baseman and brilliant fielding and batting skills. Marvin was a man of many talents. An enterprising man, he started his own business. Marvin was full of wisdom. He will be missed.
Left to cherish his memory, three sons, Marvin Milton Alexander Jr. of Los Angeles, Ronald and Timothy Alexander of San Pedro, Ca., three loving daughters Barbara Adams, Carrie Alexander-Anyanwu of Los Angeles, Ca. Patricia Thomas of Killeen, Tx. Two son-inlaws, Hillary Thomas, of Killen, Tx, and Godwin Anyanwu, of Los Angeles, Ca, One Sister Ernestine Wagner of Fort Worth, Tx, one Brother-in-law Frank Bush, two Sister-inlaws Mae E. Bush of Irvin, Tx. And Johnny May Patton of Los Angeles, Ca. twenty-one grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
