Born in Lebanon on March 15, 1929, Howard was a son of the late Howard Sr. and Mabel (Allwein) Arnold.
He worked for Bethlehem Steel and the Cornwall Ore Mines. Howard was a member of the Holy Name Society and St. Mary's Church, where he served as an Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion and custodian for several years. He was an assistant Scout Master for Troops 11 and 66. He enjoyed hunting, camping, time spent with his dog, and countless hours of bird watching. Howard had a wonderful sense of humor that was enjoyed by all who knew him.
He is survived by 3 children: Howard "Butch" Arnold, III, husband of Victoria Ann; Lindalou A. Lesher, wife of John; Ann L. Long, wife of Randy; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 4 siblings: Sara Arnold, Sr. Agnes Arnold, Rose Felty, and Joseph Arnold; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
A viewing hour will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 11:30-12:30 at St. Mary's Church, 2 North 8th Street, Lebanon, PA 17046 with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:30. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Howard 's name may be made to St. Mary's Church. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
