When Michael arrived in Vietnam, he was assigned CRIP Company, 1st Platoon (Mechanized), 5th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, USARV. At 1650H, the battalion CRIP unit requested a dust-off for two Bobcats that were wounded and two Bobcats killed. A jeep with the unit had detonated a mine on Highway 7A, just north of the junction of Highway 1.
