Bill Jamar, our beloved son, father, brother, and friend has left us after a short, but heroic battle with cancer.
Graveside funeral services with military honors is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, in Rockford Cemetery with the Rev. Beverly Olsen officiating. Starrett-Rose Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. The family has invited all who wish to attend to gather at the funeral home Thursday prior to 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a positive outlook on life; was a faithful friend; had a kind word for all; and had a special relationship with children, who adored him.
He was born Billy Wayne Jamar on Nov. 16, 1954, in Paris. He attended Paris High School, was a veteran of the United States Navy, and held an associates degree from Paris Junior College. He was a Christian, and attended Calvary United Methodist Church, in Paris.
He owned and operated an auto repair/body shop in Paris, and most recently worked alongside his brother Bart, and his father Jack, at Jamar Contractors, a Heating and Air Conditioning business.
He was preceded in death by his son, Casey Jamar; brother, John Robert Jamar; and his grandparents; Bill and Mollie Jamar, and Henry and Dezie Pool Johnston.
He is survived by his children, Lindsay Jamar, Christian Jamar, and Shelby Jamar; his parents, Jack and Haze Jamar; brother, Bart, wife, Jackie, and children, Mollie and Will; sister, Jackie, her husband, Randy, and children, Angie and Abby; sister Jodie, her husband, Blake, and children, Jack, Hannah and Sarah; and the many aunts, uncles, and cousins who made up his large, extended family.
Pallbearers will be Steve Armstrong, Phil Carter, Curtis Haley, Ricky Crump, Greg Raper, Kyle Raper, Jake Raper and Bart Jamar.
