7 BARKSDALE FLIERS DEAD IN ACCIDENT
Medium Bomber Plunges to Earth Wednesday Afternoon

The names of the four officers and three enlisted men from Barksdale Field killed in the crash of a medium bomber Wednesday afternoon near Belcher were announced by Barksdale Field authorities yesterday.

The dead were:

Second Lieut. WINSTON J. BRADFORD, 26, pilot, 106 McCaulley Street, Sweetwater, Texas.

Second Lieut. EDWARD R. DICKERSON, 25, co-pilot, Wadesboro Road, Monroe, N.C.

Lieut. JAMES A. HEARN, 24, navigator, whose wife resides at 3305 Creswell Ave. Home, 321 West 15th Street, Ada, Okla.

Second Lieut. JAMES R. SIMMONS, 27, bombardier, whose wife resides at Bluebonnet Courts, Bossier City. Home, 321 Troy Street, Tupelo, Miss.

Sgt. ERNEST CAVENDER, aerial gunner, whose wife resides at 946 Jordan Street with their son Horace Ray. Hometown, Williamsport, Tenn.

Sgt. RAYMOND S. UNDERDOWN, 19, gunner, 1803 Farragut Avenue, Norfolk, Va.

Sgt. CHARLES A. BRAUN, 20, gunner, 134 Rutgers Place, Nutley, N.J.

Public relations officers at Barksdale Field reported yesterday that a crash reported west of Shreveport yesterday proved to be a false alarm. Ambulances and crash crews passed through Shreveport yesterday morning, evidently going to the scene.

A report from Marshall, Texas, was that a bomber struck a high power line and pole at Woodlawn, seven miles north of Marshall. The plane did not crash but scattered a few fragments and flew away. However, the power line was put out of commission.
