LLOYD J. ‘ACE’ CHANDLER, 73, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident passed away on Thursday August 4, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.

He was born on December 15, 1931 in East Stanwood, Washington, the son of George M. & Valeria A. Savage Chandler. He was raised and attended school in Stanwood.

In 1954 he was inducted into the U.S. Army where he served his country until 1956.

On September 17, 1954 he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Brown in Burlington and they made their home in Bellingham and Burlington before settling in Sedro-Woolley in 1966. Mary, his wife of 50 years preceded him in death in November 2004.

Lloyd worked as a butcher for over 30 years, beginning with Pal Meats and Sanitary Meats in Bellingham, then Mount Vernon Meats where he worked for over 22 years, finally retiring from Galbreath Meat Packaging in Burlington in 1988. He was a member of the U.F.C.W. Union Local 44 and a past member of the Moose Lodge.

When Lloyd wasn’t at work, and he loved going to work, he enjoyed hunting, woodworking and growing vegetables in his garden.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lanell & Tom Wenrick of Sedro-Woolley. 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Paul & Dottie Chandler of Burlington, Gerald & Marilyn Chandler, Eric & Patty Chandler and Jason & Jennifer Chandler, all of Sedro-Woolley. 12 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jacob, Jared, Erica, Kristen, Stephanie, Ryan, Jena, Troy, Ashley, Weylin and Elizabeth and 3 great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Braxton and Myles. 1 sister, Helen Evans of Lake Wenatchee and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Besides his wife Mary he was also preceded in death by his parents, George & Valeria Chandler, 2 brothers, Kenneth & Harold Chandler and 2 sisters, Jean Evans and Joyce Asmus.

Lloyd’s family wish to acknowledge the staff at Life Care Center of Skagit Valley for their care and assistance during Lloyds stay.

They request that memorial contributions be made to the Skagit Valley Kidney Center in Mount Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at Lemley Chapel on Wednesday August 10, 2005 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Wendy Tingley of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Visitation available at and services under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
