Services for Gussie Estell Alford, 88, will be Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at Mary Niblack Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born on Oct. 20, 1917, in Madill, Okla., to Tom and Ethel Dotson Chapman, she died on Aug. 21, 2006, in Ardmore.
She and Jesse R. Alford were married on July 4, 1936, in Madill. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1982. She was also preceded by her parents; five brothers, Frank, Leonard, Tommy, Ruban and Kenneth Chapman; four sisters, Mary Brumley, Effie Jordan, Minnie Williams and Linnie Chapman; and stepmother, Martha Chapman.
She was a member of Mary Niblack Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Marris and husband, Edmond, and Mary Talkington and husband, Bill, all of Ardmore; a son, J.R. Alford Jr. and wife, Billie, Atoka; two brothers, Ernest and Truman Chapman; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Michael Yowell, Richard Vaughan, Johnny Vinson, Randall Kyle, Michael Smith and Rocky Mathis.
