"Mema" was born and raised in Oplin, Texas. She was the daughter of Tommy and Delpha Breeding. She married Maurice Atwood March 8, 1934 in Potosi. The family farmed and ranched at Oplin until 1978 when they moved to Abilene. Mrs. Atwood was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church.
One of her great gifts was making quilts for her family and friends. She was an active gardener, avid reader, a true Texas Ranger fan. "Mema" greatly enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She had a special love for her great grandson, Zane, who has Down syndrome.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Reba (Tom) Ceniglis of Abilene; four grandchildren, Don Clare and Tiffany Clare of Abilene, Tom and Angela Ceniglis of Abilene, Susie and Abel White of San Antonio, Dani Ward of Kerrville: 5 great grandchildren, Christopher Moore, Haley Ward, Austen Ceniglis, A.J. Ceniglis, and Zane Clare; one great great grandchild, Keagan Moore; 2 brothers, Clarence Breeding of Clyde, and Buddy Breeding of Abilene; 2 sisters, Eva Williams of Ft. Worth and Lillian Latimer of Abilene.
