Wendy Carol Bennett McCarter, 35, was fatally shot by her husband, Scott McCarter, 40, on May 25, 2006. Scott McCarter also killed the couple's 12-year-old son Scotty Jr., and 6-year-old daughter, Melanie Rae before turning the gun on himself.
At the time of the murders, McCarter was on trial on charges of molesting his teenaged stepdaughter (Wendy's daughter) and the girl's best friend. The bodies of the family were found the morning McCarter was supposed to take the stand in his own defense.
