Bandleader. He went from playing serious music both with and for other artists to starting his own band that featured: whistles, auto horns, and other noisemaking equipment. The group was called "Spike Jones and His City Slickers." The group recorded "Der Fuehrer's Face" during World War II and went on to do take-offs on established songs such as "Cocktails for Two." They also did the holiday song, "All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth." Jones and the Slickers were featured on their own radio show and later on television. They also toured in various clubs during that time. Many of the established novelty numbers were released in albums and newer material was featured with album titles such as, "Dinner Music for People Who Aren't Very Hungry."
