Marjorie Elizabeth Strawn was born to William Marcus Asquith and Mildred (Wrigley) Asquith.

Mrs. Strawn attended Sullins College in Bristol, Va., and graduated from the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

She met her husband, Harry C. Strawn, when he came to Muskogee for Army Air Force flight training in 1942. They were married October 30, 1943, in Muskogee. Subsequently, Marjorie followed Harry to Victoria, Texas, and Naples, Florida, during his training.

She returned to Muskogee while he was overseas. After World War II, they moved to Little Rock, Ark., where they lived until 1957. After living in Hot Springs, Ark., they moved to Springfield in 1961.

Mrs. Strawn was her husband's partner in Missouri Waste Disposal, Inc. She also served her community in various volunteer roles; among them were Meals on Wheels, Make Today Count, League of Women Voters, and the Springfield Opera.

She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church and PEO Chapter IS in Springfield. She visited Trinity Church in the Pines and PEO Chapter IE in Grand Lake, Colorado each summer. She also held memberships in D.A.R. and Twin Oaks Country Club.

Her daughter, Nancy and her husband, Larry Adams, of Linden, Missouri; her son, Mark and his wife, Libby, of Maumelle, Arkansas; and her daughter, Carolyn and her husband, Pete Lollar, of Decatur, Georgia, survive her.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Elizabeth Adams Cahill and her husband, Matt, Carmen Strawn, Kelly Strawn Wortham and her husband, Shannon; Air Force SSGT Jason C. Strawn, Robin Lollar, Stefan Lollar and Ryan Lollar; and her three great-grandchildren, Brock Douglas Horner, Jacob Wortham and Geoffrey Wortham.

Mrs. Strawn was preceded in death April 2006 by her husband of 62 years, Harry, and her grandson, Douglas Adams, in 1984. Her parents and her brothers, Robert and Bill Asquith also preceded her.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at First United Methodist Church at 413 E. Walnut, Springfield, officiated by Rev. Carol Ann Chilton.
