Billy was born at the Naval Regional Medical Center, Agana, Guam. He next lived in Las Vegas, Nevada from March 1985 to November 1992 when we moved to St. Tammany, LA. Spc. William S. Hayes III, of St. Tammany, died Sunday in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a lifelong resident of Slidell and a 2001 graduate of Slidell High School. He was serving his country in Iraq with the First 22nd Infantry in the U.S. Army and was a tank driver and munitions loader. He is survived by his parents, William S. Hayes Jr. and Debra Gafford Hayes; grandmother, Lola Beth Hayes; brother, Elvis Jackson Hayes; and sisters Jennifer Ann Hayes and Michelle Marie Hayes all of Slidell, and his grandmother, Freda Perry. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William S. Hayes Sr., of Ashland City, Tenn., and Elvis E. Gafford.
