Jonathan Collons Davis was born in England. As a boy he emigrated to the USA. At Wilmington and Dover, Delaware he learned the trade of a tailor and followed this occupation for a number of years before moving to the Uniontown, Maryland area where he bought a farm. He was married to Mary Winters on the 17th of April 1812 in Frederick County, Maryland.
They had the following children:
John Winter Davis, Ann Maria Davis, Edward Davis, Aaron Davis, Joseph Davis, Jonathan Collons Davis Jr, William Davis and George H Davis.
