MISS KATE HIGHTOWER DEAD.

Miss Kate Hightower, a pioneer resident of El Dorado and esteemed for her many sterling qualities by everyone who knew her, died at the home of her brother, J. W. Hightower in Nevada, with whom she had been spending the past winter, on last Sunday after a prolonged illness.

Miss Hightower went to Nevada several months ago and shortly afterwards it was learned by her friends here that she was declining in health; and she continued to grow worse until death finally claimed her as above mentioned.

Miss Hightower was seventy-three years of age and was the daughter of the late Joshua Hightower, the discoverer of El Dorado Springs, who died in this city a number of years ago. The name of Hightower is closely linked with the past history of this city and the death of this esteemed lady removes on of the earliest settlers of this city from this community. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Howard of this city and by two brother's J. W. and Joshua Hightower of Nevada.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Pritchell, pastor of Centenary church at Nevada, were held at the home of J. W. Hightower in that city Monday afternoon after which the remains were laid to rest in Newton Burial Park.
