Roger was born in Dickinson and was raised in Fairfield.
He was serving in the Marine Reserves when he went into active duty and was issued orders for Vietnam.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 29 October 1968, Roger was assigned to HMM-362, MAG-15, 1st Marine Air Wing. Roger was in a UH-34D helicopter that collided in mid-air with another UH-34D and he died as a result of multiple injuries when the UH-34D
crashed and burned. There were no survivors and all the bodies of the 8 Marines were recovered.
Lawrence served his country for 4 years.
Survived by his widow, Karen H Knudtson and his parents; Thomas H and Lucille J Knudtson, all of General Delivery, Fairfield, North Dakota.
