Sports Pioneer and the "Father of Kansas City Baseball". In 1884, he played a historical role in bringing Kansas City its first major league baseball team. When the "Kansas City Unions" joined the Union Association in 1884, he became the owner of the first major league baseball team in Kansas City's history. The Union Association League lasted one season. In 1885, a minor league was created called the Western League and he became its first president. In 1886, the Kansas City Cowboy's joined the national league. Mckims professional record in two seasons in the majors, was forty-seven wins and one hundred and fifty-four losses.
