Anna was the second child of immigrants John and Mary (Niewinska) Boguslawski. She was born and raised in Gary, Indiana but traveled to San Diego, CA during WWII to work in an airplane factory as an inspector. One Sunday in December 1943, she was sitting in a coffee shop in San Diego when a GI sat next to her and started to talk to her. He asked where she was going and she told him she was waiting for a bus to take her to church for Mass. He asked if he could come along. She said yes...they were married February 10, 1944. Not bad for a whirlwind courtship between a Catholic girl and a boy brought up in the Church of Christ. To this union were born my sister, Mary, and I.
