Bertha L. (Thurston) Cummings was the widow of William Cummings and the daughter of Peleg and Sarah (Lawton) Thurston. A resident of 97 Turnpike Rd. in Portsmouth, she belonged to St. Mary's Episcopal Church in that town. Mrs. Cummings died at the Union Hospital in Fall River. She was survived by nieces, Mrs. Robert Cooper and Mrs. John Earle of Newport, and Mr. Lawrence Goffe of Middletown; and nephews, Howard Thurston of Newport and Lawrence Thurston of Middletown. A full obituary appeared in the Providence Journal, January 31, 1965.
