NEWSPAPER OBITUARY
CHARLES ALLEN
Charles Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Allen, was born January 29, 1866. He died at his home in Crooksville, Sunday morning, December 9, 1928, at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 10 days.
He was united in marriage to Mary Coulter on Dec. 31, 1890. Four children were born to this union; Mrs. Asa Brown, Mrs. Kenneth Pyles, Melford Allen and Lenore, the youngest, who preceded him in death about ten days ago.
Other members of the intimate family are two brothers, Mr. John Allen, of Zanesville, and Mr. Dave Allen, of Deavertown; and one sister, Mrs. Almeda Coulter of Falls Creek, Pa.
Mr. Allen began his religious life at the age of nineteen years, when he was converted in the Tatman's Gap Church. He was one of the early members of the United Brethren Church at Crooksville, and continued to be a faithful and active member throughout his lifetime. The side range of his Christian devotion may be seen from his different connections with the church program; he was a member of the board of trustees, class leader, chairman of the board of stewards, teacher of a Sunday school class, and treasurer of Sunday school.
