Son of Hugh Junkins and Anne McCullough. First married to Rebecka McClain of Ohio who was the mother of three children and died in 1873. Married Jennie Kane in Pittsburgh, 6 January 1874. William and Jennie were the parents of Tessie, Clara, Charlotte, Marie, Will, Gertrude and infant Kitty. Their children (except the youngest) were born and baptized (Catholic) in Pittsburgh. William remained Presbyterian throughout his life despite Jennie's efforts. He converted to Catholicism and was baptized on his deathbed.

Obituary:
Seward, Aug. 18 - William Junkins, of near Seward, passed away Wednesday night of last week at his home in Indiana County. "Captain" Junkins was a veteran of the Civil War. He was 73 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. E.E. Briggs, Mrs. A.W. Kinsey, Mrs. E. Wakefield, all of Seward; Marie and William, at home. Funeral services were held at the Seward Roman Catholic Church on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery near New Florence.
