He was married Oct. 16, 1877, to Margaret Russell. To this union seven children were born., a daughter, Mrs. Ida Eckard, having preceeded him in death. He is surived by his wife and the following children; Mrs. Mollie Street, Arthur, Walter, and Clarence all of Martinsville; Earnest of Eagleville, and Mrs. Elsie Osmon of Hastings, Iowa. He us also survied by 30 grandchldren, four great grandchldren and five sisters, Mrs. Lavina Trammell, Mrs. Mary Gibson, Mrs. Rachel Harris, Mrs. Mahala Sweeten and Mrs. Cynthia Denvers. Many other relatives and friends remain to morn his death.
For many years Mr. Allen had been a member and officer of the Mt. Olive Church, north of Martinsville. His influence in the community as a sincere christian man has been felt by all and will continue to live in memory. The church has lost a loyal disciple and the community a true and highly respected citizen. Funeral services were conduced at the Mt. Olive Chruch, Friday March 5, and burial was in the Logston Cemetery.
