Professional Baseball Player. He spent 13 seasons in the major leagues as a pitcher with the Brooklyn Bridegrooms, Baltimore Orioles, Brooklyn Superbas, New York Highlanders and St. Louis Browns. Howell made his major league debut at the age of 21 on October 10, 1898. He appeared in 340 games during his major league career, winning 131 games and losing 146.
