A native of Macon County, she had lived in Cherokee County since 1969. She was the daughter of Charlie and Addie Owenby Douthit and the wife of the Clyde Gwinn Allen, who died June 15, 1962.
She was retired from Owenby Manufacturing and a member of the Bethel Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cleo Cope and Ethel Waters; and a brother, Cliff Douthit.
