He attended and graduated from the University of Buffalo and UCLA Law School. After graduation, he served as a prosecutor for the U.S. federal courts.
After practicing law in San Diego, California for 40 years, he retired as a senior member with the law firm of Glenn, Wright, Jacobs & Schell. After retirement, he volunteered his time and expertise in assisting the San Diego Unified School District.
The family requested that memorials be made to the American Lung Association.
