Albert Bennett (Bennet or Bennit)

Albert was the son of William Bennet and Altye VAN MATER Bennet.

This is the headstone and grave for the Albert Bennett that earlier records say was initially buried in the Old Red Meeting House Cemetery, also known as the Old Holmdel Yard or Old Bennett Yard.

Having researched Albert I have discovered that he and his wife, Rebecca, were reinterred from here to the Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum. The book "New Jersey Graveyard and Gravestone Inscriptions Locators MONMOUTH COUNTY" states that numerous graves from Old Holmdel Yard were moved to Holmdel Cemetery because they were not being properly maintained at Old Holmdel Yard.

I've located both of their grave sites there and the photos displayed here are of the stones located there.

I also discovered a file located in the Archives Library at the Monmouth County Historical Association in Freehold, NJ containing notes from P. D. Staats from July 15th and 16th 1910 who did a compilation of inscriptions and locations of some of the graves at this cemetery. This record shows that both Rebecca's and Alberts's headstones were at this location at that time.

I checked with the onsite office for Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum to try to verify matters but they have no records of what graves were transferred to their facility.

age 81 y., 11 m., 7 d.
