Wilhelm Giesonn was a widower with two children, Ernest Herman and Edward, when he married Albertine "Wilhelima" Krebs in 1860. They had 10 children ... two, Paul Reinhold Giesonn (7 Jul, 1867 - abt. 1880) and Carl Albert Louis Giesonn (27 Dec, 1870 - abt. 1871), died in Germany. There was possibly an 11th child named Thelma or Selma Giesonn.

Wilhelm was a vinegar maker.

Wilhelm and Wilhelima came to the U.S. in 1890 with 6 of their children and settled in St. Louis, MO, where the last name was changed to Gieson.
