Allen Richard "Chip" Ellis III was a wonderful young man who was active in his community and loved by everyone who knew him.

He was a member of the Midlothian Family YMCA and had done almost 600 hours of volunteer work there. Chip especially loved working with children and helped start the Midlothian Branch Leader's Club, a group for teenagers that promotes leadership and volunteerism. He was honored in January of 2006 by the YMCA of Richmond Virginia as a Community Role Model.

On Sunday May 28, 2006, nearly a thousand people turned out at a memorial for Chip, who was killed just a few weeks from his high school graduation, the victim of a senseless murder.

Chip leaves behind loving parents, grandparents and siblings as well as a multitude of friends who will miss him dearly.
