The death of Thomas E. Barry, a well-known and highly respected resident of East Utica occured Monday at his home, 908 Mary Street, following an illness of about a year. Mr. Barry was born in County Kerry in Ireland. He married Mary Lynch there 30 years ago and later the couple will move to this country and to Utica, where the departed had since resided. Mr. Barry was employed for many years at the Gulf Brewing Company and was an honest and faithful workman. He attented St. Agnes Church and was an active member of the Holy Name Society and the C.M.B.A. connected therewith. Departed was a home-loving man. He found his greatest pleasure in the company of his family in which he was a vested husband and father.
Besides his wife, Mr. Barry has survived by 10 children, Mrs. James Brunnock; Mrs. Harry Burch; Edward, Thomas, John, Mary, Margaret, Agnes, James, and Leo Barry, all of Utica; one brother, Edward Barry of Waterbury, Connecticut; and two brothers and a sister in Ireland; and three grandchildren, Thomas Morehead, Mary Brunnock, and Edward Barry of this city. The funeral was held Wednesday morning from the late home after which moved to St. Agnes Church where a mass of requiem was celebrated by Reverend John J. Higgins. Delegations from the Brewery Workers' Union and the C.M.B.A. attended in a body. The bearers were William Butler, Philip Brady, Alexander Lyons, Michael Butterman, Patrick Finnigan, and Joseph Schmidt. The remains were placed in the receiving vault in St. Agnes Cemetery.
