"Wilma Orril (Stone) Harrington, 99, of La Grande, died Saturday May 31, 1997, at a local care center.
"A service will begin at 3:30 this afternoon at Hillcrest Cemetery. Daniels Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
"Mrs. Harrington was born Aug. 10, 1897, to Robert and Molly (Birk) Stone in Langdon, Kan. On Nov. 23, 1920, she married Frank Harrington in Dodge City, Kan. He was a carpenter, and after they moved to Eugene in the 1940s, they built their own home. She was an interior decorator, so she did the home decorating.
"The Harringtons also enjoyed gardening and were famous for the fuchsias they grew, family members said. During World War II, she worked in the Boeing Aircraft Building Effort. She was active in the Methodist Church in Eugene. Her husband died in 1965.
"In 1977 she moved to La Grande to be near her niece, Charlotte Rankin of Island City, and became a member of the First Christian Church.
"Survivors include her sisters, Myra Fromme of Eugene and Roberta Lutes of Kansas City, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
"Two brothers Karl and Don Stone, died earlier. Karl died in 1984, Don in 1991.
"Contributions may be made to the La Grande First Christian Church in care of Daniels Chapel, 1502 Seventh St., La Grande 97850."
She had no children.
