Actor. Best remembered for his role as the no-nonsense 'Principal Richard Vernon' in the popular 1980's seminal movie "The Breakfast Club." Gleason reprised the role of Principal Vernon in the parody film, "Not Another Teen Movie" (2001). Gleason attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, playing played college football, as did fellow actors, Burt Reynolds and Robert Urich. After seeing the film "Splendor in the Grass" (1961) with his friend, author Jack Kerouac, he decided to become an actor. After studying at The Actors Studio for four years, Gleason started out on television in the 1960s, appearing on such shows as "Mission: Impossible" and "Columbo." He made his film debut in the movie "Doc Savage, Man of Bronze" (1975). From 1976 to 1978, Gleason played Dr. David Thornton on the television soap opera, "All My Children." Other notable film roles include: Clarence Beeks in "Trading Places" (1983) and LAPD Deputy Chief Dwayne T. Robinson in "Die Hard" (1988). Gleason continued to appear regularly in films and television most recently in episodes of "Cold Case" and "The George Lopez Show."
