Son of Charles and Emma (Horn) Scribner.

Graduated from Annapolis in 1879 and was a Commander of the navy yard at Charlestown, MA.

Married Carrie Alnette Davis, daughter of Mr. Davis of the Davis and Sargent Lumber Co. of Lowell, MA. in March 1883.

Sadly in 1904 he accidently ran over a 5 year old girl, killing her. He was charged with negligence.

After he retired from the Navy he went to work for his father in law and became president of the company in 1906.
Their son Ernest Davis was taken in as a junior partner, thus continuing the family business.
