Funeral service were held for Bob Abla on Monday, March 25, 2013. He was 84. Bob Abla was born to Robert and Sadie Mae (Elms) Abla in Texola, Oklahoma during a record snowstorm on February 4, 1929 and went home to be with his Lord and the love of his life, Thelma, in Elk City, Oklahoma on March 21, 2013 at the age of 84 years, one
month and 17 days.
Bob grew up in Erick, OK and joined the US Army/Air Force where he served his country. He married Thelma Wilcox in Erick, OK on February 7, 1953 and she passed away on October 14, 2006. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Erick and was a Mason for over 50years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sadie Mae Abla; his wife, Thelma; five brothers, Elmo, Homer, Roy, Melvin and Carol and a sister, Vesta. Survivors include sons, Mark Abla of Erick and Shayne Swearingen;
daughters, Rhonda Abla-Hunter of Erick, Gayla and husband Carl Dunlap and Kama and husband Jason Mayfield of Erick; a brother, Vernie Abla and wife Flossie of Lawton; a brother-in-law, Wayne Wilcox; a sister in law, Rosa Faye Snider; eight grandchildren, Brandon Abla and wife Alicia,
Dereck Dunlap, Carissa Dunlap, Baylee Abla, Dylan Abla, Davis, Aubrey and Dally Mayfield; a great grandchild, Laney Dunlap and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Erick on Monday, March 25, 2013 with Rev. Joe Merrill, Rev. Charley Floyd and Rev. Craig Abla officiating. Burial followed at the Erick Cemetery with Masonic Rights under the direction of People's Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.
