Robert E. Hill, 71, of Manilla, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Born Nov. 27, 1934, in New Castle, he was the son of Ina (Lee) and the late Charles W. Hill. He married A. Joan Wilson May 14, 1966; she survives.
Mr. Hill was a recording artist with Nabor Records in the 1960s. He belonged to the Legion of the Moose. He was a firefighter for 50 years, most recently with the Manilla Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Robert Hill (and wife Sonda) of Muncie; six daughters, Diana (Mrs. Alfred) Hillebrand of Manilla, Cheryl (Mrs. Merrill) Magee of Rushville, Sheryl Hill of Phoenix, Ariz., Betty (Mrs. Joe) Rozelle of Bowling Green, Ky., Pam (Mrs. Fred) Steed of Milroy and Carolyn (Mrs. Richard) Pyle of Muncie; one brother, Jack Hill (and wife Gloria) of Rushville; four sisters, Vicki (Mrs. Larry) Hadler of Greensburg, Geneva (Mrs. Wesley) Ramey of Indianapolis, Cathy Zell of Shelbyville and Deena Hill of Rushville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his father he was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia .
Services were Wednesday at the Manilla Volunteer Fire Department with Pastor David Steidel officiating. Burial followed in Manilla Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday at the fire department.
