Thaddeus Warsaw Rollison was the son of Charles Perry Rollison and Matilda Runser Rollison. He married Rosa Etta Coffey on October 26, 1879. Together they had eleven children. Thad and his family moved to Arkansas from Indiana on a flatboat when he was a teenager. He told his story in a series of articles which appeared in the Arkansas Democrat newspaper in 1937.

Thaddeus was the brother of Charles Perry Rollison, Jr., Ella, Marion and Addison Rollison and half brother of John, Henry, Michael, Jeremiah and Mary Rusher (Baker).
