I met David when we were both in the same sixth grade class. He was shy and quiet but so sweet. We continued our friendship into middle school when he moved to Chesapeake. We would see him from time to time at the mall. He died way to young at the age of 25. I miss him still.

CHESAPEAKE - David M. Elam, 24, of 401 Oaklette Drive died Saturday in a Norfolk hospital. He was a native of Norfolk and the son of George M. and Mrs. Edna Sawyer Elam.

He was a 1976 graduate of Indian River High School and attended Tidewater Community College. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Gail Elam Hagan; and two nephews, Daniel Hagan and Adam Hagan, all of Moyock, N.C.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 521 Providence Road, by the Rev. Hal Hizer. Memorial donations may be made to Neurofibromatosis Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md., or Hospice of Virginia Beach, Suite 405, Pembroke One, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462. His body was donated to the Medical College of Virginia at his request.
