Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Tully officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Foster Petering Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 8, 1932, to Claude and Alice (Reed) Carnes in Wetumka.
She grew up in Wetumka before moving to New Braunfels, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She continued her education at the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated with a teaching degree and was a member of Tri Delta Sorority.
Candy and Jim Rowsey were married Aug. 28, 1954.
She taught elementary school at Del City and Victoria, Texas, before moving to Muskogee in 1956.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. During her active years she was director and longtime member of Muskogee Green Country Duplicate Bridge Club. She was active in the Republican Party serving as an alternate delegate to two national conventions. She was a member of Keystone Study Club, Chapter AO of PEO, active in the American Quarter Horse Association and responsible for editing and publishing the Five Civilized Tribes Museum Cookbook.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Rowsey, of Muskogee; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Rowsey of Tulsa; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Wilson White of Tulsa; and four grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Kuykendall, Bartis M. Kent, Gene Wyrrick, Francis Rooney, Mary Lou Caldwell and Mike Norman.
