Medical Figure. A victim of breast cancer, she lost her battle with the disease in 1980. Near the end of her life, she asked her sister Nancy Brinker to help find a cure for the disease. In 1982, Nancy founded the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in her sister's memory. It has since become a nationally renown foundation with its annual, "Race for the Cure".
