Another good north Tama woman has gone to her reward. Mrs. David Baillie died last Saturday evening after several months' illness of kidney trouble. Her condition was not thought serious until within a few months ago, but when found so, all that good medical skill and careful nursing could do was of no avail and she failed rapidly. Jane Brown Baillie was born in Fifeshire, Scotland, sixty-four years ago. She was married at the age of nineteen to David Baillie, and to this union were born thirteen children, nine boys and four girls. Eight of the family still survive. Mr. Baille died nearly seven years ago. The family home was first established in Scotland and twenty-three years ago they removed to America locating near Traer for a few years, and eighteen years ago they settled on the homestead in Grant township. This has been the home since then. Mrs. Baillie was a fond mother, a good neighbor, and faithful church member and a sincere Christian woman. She united with the church when a young woman and was a faithful member all through the years, being at the time of her death a member of the U.P. church at Traer. Rev. Torrence conducted the funeral service and spoke very impressively from the text: "Her children rise up and call her blessed." The U.P. Church choir of Traer sang. Burial was at Amity cemetery.
Mrs. Baillie will long be remembered as she was one of the most generous and largest hearted ladies in this community, and her many kind acts will never be forgotten. She was always in her kind, quiet way doing something for some one and was happy in doing so. She will be greatly missed in her family circle, but her sufferings are over, and her life work is done.
