Theodore Benton Garrard

Theodore Benton Garrard was born January 22, 1851, in Virginia. With his parents moved to Chariton, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.

In 1874, he married Miss Angeline Stanley, and in 1878 they homesteaded the farm two miles east of Severy, which has been his home ever since.

To this union five children came, three of whom with the wife have preceded him in death.

He is survived by one son, Fritz of Kremlin, Mont.; Mrs. I.F. Benest of Severy; and six grandsons and one brother, W.W. Garrard of Fall River.

He became a member of the Odd Fellow lodge at the age of 21 years, and has been a faithful member of the order for over 50 years.

He departed this life April 20, at the home of his daughter.

We pay tribute this day to one who as a pioneer helped in the building of the state.

Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L.B. Dobbs.

Interment was in the Twin Groves cemetery.
