Eva Millis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Millis, of Hopkinton, died on Wednesday evening, her death being caused from the wound inflicted by a bullet fired from the 38 - caliber Colt's revolver in the hands of George De Lair.
Deceased was born near Hopkinton December 21, 1896, and spent all of her girlhood days on the home farm. She attended the public schools of Hopkinton, and last June was graduated with the class of 1914.
Her marriage with John Allen occurred at Dubuque, Iowa, on July 15, 1914, and following their marriage the young people came to Hopkinton to work for the James Johnson family west of that place.
The tragic death of the seventeen year old daughter has cast deep gloom amidst the family circle in which she was dearly loved. Her lovable nature had endeared her to those with whom she associated during her brief life time.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Hopkinton, and by example and precept, lived the life of a Christian young woman. Funeral services were held from the church on Friday afternoon, and were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. W. H. Ensign. Interment was made in the Hopkinton cemetery.
We extend to the bereaved parents, husband, and brothers and sisters, our heartfelt sympathy in the great sorrow that has come to them.
