Linda Rae Colenso Velpel, age 41, of Appleton, died on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Appleton Medical Center. Linda was born on March 31, 1965, in Portland, Oregon. She was loved and admired for her helpful, caring and optimistic nature. Linda's family was the focus of her life and she was the "Neighborhood Mom" to kids of all ages. Survivors include her husband, Steven; her children, Brian, Amber and Kyle, at home; her parents, Maureen and David Colenso, Wausaukee; her grandmother, Frances Monogue, San Antonio, Texas; her grandparents, Richard and Louise Colenso, Portland, Oregon; her brother, Richard Peck, Pasadena, California; her sister, Shelly (Geno) Bestul; all of her sisters who joined our family and shared our life and love; her in-laws, Ron and Mary Lietz, Townsend, Wisconsin; her brother-in-law, Rick (Deb) Velpel, Appleton; her sister-in-law, Annette (Earl) Pickett, Marshfield, Wisconsin; her brother-in-law, Kenneth (Connie) Velpel, Eagle River, Wisconsin; her nieces and nephews, Naomi Johnson; Jerid Bestul; Nicholas Peck; Robert, Fred, Kimberly, Zachary, Melissa and Samuel Velpel and Rochelle Holmes; her great nephews and nieces, Riley Velpel, Kadin and Kiona Hermans; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Edward Monogue. Memorial services will be at NOON on Friday, April 7, 2006, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Following the services, there will be an Irish Wake at Rick's Reunion Station, Green Bay Road, Neenah. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Appleton Medical Center and the Martha Siekman Cancer Center for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name. Memorial contributions can be sent directly to the funeral home.
