Alfred Henry Jackson is the son of Capt. George Washington Jackson and Hester Taylor Jackson. He was born in McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio. He married Mary Blair Paxton in Nov 1858, the daughter of William Paxton and Julia Moffett. They had two daughters, Ella Bennett Jackson and May Paxton Jackson. On 9 august 1862, Alfred was severely wounded at the battle of Cedar Mountain in Culpeper County, Virginia. He returned to Lexington, in Rockbridge County, Virginia where he died shortly. Lt. Col. in the 31st Va. Inf. Regt. Confederate States Army. Died of his wounds in Lexington, Virginia
