Born in Temosachic, Chihuahua, Mexico, Juanita relocated with her husband from Las Cruces, NM to Merced County in 1968, where they settled and raised their seven children.
A devoted daughter, she, her husband, and their children made regular annual visits to her parents and relatives in Mexico.
Juanita was the heart and soul of her family, and as a mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was seeing to it that everyone was happy.
A highly regarded cook and seamstress, she produced many beautiful and unique bedspreads, pillowcases and quilts for her family on her trusty Singer sewing machine.
She enjoyed growing flowers and spent time caring for them. After her children, one of Juanita's proudest achievements was becoming a U.S. citizen late in life, and she was always ready to exercise her voting privileges.
