Born Dec. 26, 1912, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Harry and Nellie Henneberger Appenzellar.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
A night watchman at the former Stanley Co., he also had been a milk route man for the former Shively's Dairy of Chambersburg.
He enjoyed hunting.
Sarah Gladys Aller Appenzellar, his wife, died on July 2, 1966.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy (Mrs. Danny) Farrow of Chambersburg; four sons, M. Fred of Huntsville, Ala.; Robert E. of Chambersburg; the Rev. Larry L. of Elmira Heights, N.Y.; and Richard L. of Florida; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Julia and Gladys, both of Williamsport, Md.; and two brothers, Harry of Chambersburg and David of Hagerstown, Md. A grandson. three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
