Robert Harvie Adams is the son of Humphrey Posey & Mary Bailey Collins, Adams. He married Sarah Katherine Martin 13 August 1881 in Cherokee County, NC. She is the daughter of Johnson Martin & Arveline Orr-Martin.
They had 12 children, Nettie Adams-Best 1886-1978, Mary B Adams-Raxter 1887-1906, Effie Daisy Adams-Luther 1888-1984, John Gordon Adams 1890-1988, Early Weldon Adams 1896-1974, (Triplets) Laura Adams-Young 1893-1951, Lois Adams 1893-1893, Lura Adams 1893-1893, Roy Adams 1900-1974, James Wesley "Jay" Adams 1905-1976, Frances Clara "Tat" Adams, 1907-2001, Robert Gurley "Gurd" Adams 1902-1972.
