Elizabethtown, N.C. - Former Waurika, Okla. resident BOBBY RAY BILBREY JR. of Elizabethtown, N.C., left this world to be with his Lord on Friday, April 14, 2006. He was doing what he loved, working on his farm with his family and friends.
A memorial service was to be held at 11 a.m. today in Bladen Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Addington (Okla.) Cemetery. Bobby will be able to rest looking over the cattle prairies he grew up on.
Bobby was born to Phyllis and Bobby Bilbrey Sr. on June 29, 1958. He graduated from Waurika High School in 1976, where he was active in athletics and several clubs and organizations, of which the Future Farmers of America was his favorite.
Bobby enjoyed an eight-year stay with the U.S. Navy, spending time in Alaska, Hawaii and Oklahoma. He received an honorable discharge in 1981 as an E-4.
Bobby spent time working in the oil fields, as a ranch hand and as a lumberjack before returning to college to complete his degree. He received his bachelor of science degree in agriculture economics from Oklahoma State University in 1989. He and Debbie were married July 14, 1990, in Dillon, S.C.
Bobby has resided in the Elizabethtown area since 1990. There, he had his own farm and also worked for Murphy Farms as a service representative, helping swine production farms with management and animal health needs.
Bobby was a fair and compassionate man and will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; two daughters, Kelly and Robbie; a grandson, Tyler; a brother, Kevin Bilbrey and wife Rhonda and their children, Jami, Ryan and Dakota, all of Duncan, Okla.; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Parker of Waurika; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Sr.; his mother, Phyllis Parker Bilbrey; and grandparents, Johnny and Edna McElroy.
