McHENRY - Robert F. Ainslie, 80, of McHenry, died Saturday, Feb. 26, at his home.

He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Lynn, Mass. On Feb. 9, 1957, he married Mary Downing in Cambridge, Mass.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy. He was a member of the Libertyville Veterans of Foreign War, and the Church of Holy Apostles in McHenry.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Maryellen (David) Tomei of Spring Grove; two grandchildren, Molly Tomei and Daniel (Donna) Liddy; and three sisters, Joanne (Ervin) Creamer, Ann Marie Johnson and Eleanor Landrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry, and will continued Wednesday, March 2, from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at the Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Church of Holy Apostles.
