From handwritten notes of daughter Helen Elizabeth Phoebe arrived in NY in 1850/1851 with her father Johannes. He left for Germany shortly after Phoebe and Peter's marriage in 5/1853 and died 2 years later. Phoebe had 2 younger siblings - a brother and a sister who are unnamed in these notes. The journal lists Phoebe born at Rheinland Phalz "Byron" which is assumed to be the town of Beuren to French-German parents. Further research found her birth at Dudeldorf, Bitburg-Prum, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Also mother of:
-(Tentative) William Swank who died at Branchton Ontario Canada in early 1866. This child is mentioned in the notes of Helen Rathbun but has not been proven.
-Elizabeth Schwenk (died in Grand Rapids MI in 1870)
