He left for Germany shortly after Phoebe and Peter's marriage in 5/1853 and died 2 years later. Phoebe had 2 younger siblings - a brother and a sister who are unnamed in these notes. The journal lists Phoebe born at Rheinland Phalz "Byron" which is assumed to be the town of Beuren to French-German parents. Further research found her birth at Dudeldorf, Bitburg-Prum, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
