Mr. Isiah Allen, Jr.,('' Daddy '') was born on June 19, 1905 in Nettleton, Mississippi to the union of Isiah, Sr., and Solve Allen. He was the eldest of five children. Three of his siblings preceded him in death.
Daddy received his formal education in the Nettleton, Mississippi School System. In 1930, he moved to East St. Louis, Illinois. He was employed with the GM&O Railroad until his retirement. While at GM&O, he served as secretary of the union.
Prior to moving to East St. Louis, Daddy united in Holy Matrimony with Minnie Lee Lark. To this union four children were born: baby Allen, Marion Elaine, Virginia and James. His wife and baby Allen preceded him in death.
Later in life, he united in Holy Matrimony with JoAnn Allen. She preceded him in death in January 2001. A daughter, Zeporta Allen, also preceded him in death.
At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. In 1998, he became a member of The New Freedom Church where he faithfully attended until his health failed him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three loving daughters, Marion Elaine Malone, Virginia Patton and Novella Seawood; two sons, James (Ann) Allen and James (Barbara) Andrews; one special grandson, Kevin B. Allen, whom he reared from birth; eighteen(18) grandchildren; twenty-five (25) great-grandchildren; four (4) great-great- grandchildren; one step-daughter, Catherine Diggs; one brother, Ruben Allen; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
